First Visit

Your First Office Visit at Allergy Asthma & Immunology

With just one call to 859-277-3114, one of Dr. Livas's friendly staff members will schedule your appointment at one of his eight convenient Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology office locations in Central and Eastern Kentucky, plus handle your insurance pre-authorization. When you visit for your initial visit, Dr. Livas will review your health history and conduct a thorough evaluation in a private treatment room.

Thorough Health Evaluations

In addition to looking at your symptoms and how long you've been suffering, his in-depth investigation includes things you might not associate with your condition. These include sleep habits, pets, environmental factors, medications, diet, and various medical conditions. Dr. Livas will also ask about your previous treatments and their results.

Diagnosing Your Allergies

To identify the cause of your allergies, Dr. Livas uses universally accepted allergy testing methods that are efficient, accurate, and patient-friendly. These include the scratch test, intradermal test, and patch test. You will learn the results of your scratch test or intradermal test during your initial office visit. The results of your patch test will be available within 48 hours. Once your evaluation and in-office skin test are complete, Dr. Livas will discuss the results and present your customized treatment plan.

Keeping Your Asthma Under Control

Many triggers can produce asthma symptoms and lead to rapid worsening of breathing. Triggers may include pollen, animal dander, dust mites, mold allergy, chemical exposure, smoke, and viruses. Common asthma symptoms include breathlessness, wheezing, coughing, and chest tightness. To diagnose asthma, Dr. Livas will look at your health history and symptoms and conduct an in-office lung function test called spirometry, which is used for childhood asthma patients ages four and older.

Asthma Treatment

Once Dr. Livas diagnoses your asthma, he will develop an individualized treatment plan to immediately get you back on the road to good health. Controlling your asthma is an attainable goal regardless of which of these treatments you receive.
